Duleek Arts and Crafts Rug

Duleek Rug | A Timeless C.F.A. Voysey Design

The Duleek Arts and Crafts Rug celebrates the beauty of nature through an elegant forest scene. Originally designed by renowned British architect and textile designer C.F.A. Voysey around 1903, the pattern first appeared as a Madras fabric. Later, the design became a carpet sold through Liberty’s of London.

Today, the Duleek Rug continues to capture the timeless appeal of the Arts and Crafts movement. Its distinctive combination of natural imagery, rich colors, and traditional design brings warmth and character to any interior.

A Beautiful Nature-Inspired Rug

The Duleek Rug features a peaceful woodland scene with graceful swans surrounded by cedar trees. Deep teal and apple green create a beautiful contrast, while soft gray swans add a gentle touch. Additionally, an olive border frames the pattern and ties the colors together.

Because of its rich yet balanced palette, this Arts and Crafts area rug complements a variety of furniture styles. For example, it pairs beautifully with Mission-style furniture, natural hardwoods, and traditional upholstery. Furthermore, its botanical design adds visual interest without overwhelming a room.

Inspired by the Arts and Crafts Movement

C.F.A. Voysey helped shape the Arts and Crafts movement through his distinctive architecture, furniture, and textile designs. He often drew inspiration from the natural world, incorporating birds, trees, and botanical patterns into his work.

The Duleek Rug reflects this artistic tradition. Its carefully arranged woodland motifs create a harmonious composition that remains appealing more than a century after its original design.
